Promise backed by Ability & Willingness to deliver.

All things work together for good for those who love God and are called according to His purpose”. Romans 8:28 is one of my favourite Bible verses. I even had this verse written out and placed on my desk at work as a constant reminder that whatever happens today is part of a bigger plan for tomorrow’s good. I was pretty confident that I understood the promises contained in this passage until recently when the Holy Spirit expanded the scripture further to me. Before I continue, let me provide some background. First, I do believe the Bible and everything in it because it is the word of God. However, sometimes when I read or hear a scripture, I find myself seeking to understand how this could be? I have attributed this to my science background and the quest to always find the logic in everything. God in His mercies sometimes allows me to have experiences or illustrations that give me a better understanding. Today I want to share one of such illustrations which is around Roman

Because You are my hope

The psalmist says “I look to the hills from where cometh my help … my help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth” (Ps 121). What a great assurance!!! My hope & confidence are from the creator of the heavens and earth.  That is indeed very comforting and reminds me of an Ibo saying which translates to “Hunger that has hope of been fed does not kill”. The human mind is amazing. Seeing the light at the end of the tunnel can keep you going longer than you own strength will. In case you are wondering where I am going with all this, I was at a baby shower recently and an incident happened that reminded me of a very important lesson that we tend to often forget and I will like to share with you. But first let me share what I call “my baby shower story” Couple of weeks ago, I attended a baby shower. The mom in question was a first time mom. Everything went on fine and soon it was time to share words of wisdom with the new mom.  You know advice is one thing that human

I KNOW WHAT YOU NEED

Who says that only mothers teach life lessons to their children? As a mother, I can say I have learnt a lot from my child especially in the area of been a child to my Heavenly Father. One of such lessons is how I could be childish (quite different from been childlike) been a daughter to my heavenly Father. Allow me illustrate with the following example. One humid and sunny afternoon, my toddler was very uncomfortable. I guessed her discomfort was from the heat. She kept insisting I carry her even though this did not make her feel much better. I was convinced that a warm meal and tepid bath was all she needed. Knowing what she needed was the easy part. Convincing her about it was a different story. She will not let me put her down long enough to run a bath and get her meal ready. After 10mins of trying to “reason” with a now furious toddler – please don’t ask me why I ever bother to do that - to see the benefits of my proposal, I decided to use my mummy veto. I had long decided tha

OURS IS TO GO

I had a chance to hear someone speak on Mark 16: 1 – 4 recently and the question the women asked in verse 3 " Who will roll the stone away from the entrance of the tomb?" struck me with a new meaning as never before. I learnt a few lessons that day that I want to share with you. Before I share these lessons let us read this beautiful “Easter” story again. 1 When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices so that they might go to anoint Jesus' body. 2 Very early on the first day of the week, just after sunrise, they were on their way to the tomb 3 and they asked each other, " Who will roll the stone away from the entrance of the tomb?" 4 But when they looked up, they saw that the stone, which was very large, had been rolled away As I mediated on this scripture, I thought to myself these wonderful women knew before they got to their destination and maybe even before they left their houses that there will be a

WHY AM I AFRAID

I read an article in which someone described fear as F alse E vidence A ppearing R eal. At first I was not really sure if I could believe this or make sense out of it, but an experience changed my mind.  One fine Sunday morning during the sermon, my pastor said that most people are afraid of things that are afraid of them. I believe my pastor is inspired of God and knows what she is saying, but I kept asking myself, how could this be true. After thinking for some time I totally forgot about it. Couple of days later when I got home from work, I felt something ran across my feet. It turned out to be a rat and I was so terrified that I ran trembling with fear. When I finally calmed down I heard a voice within me say, did you notice the rat was running away from you and not towards you? You are the rightful occupant of the house and the rat knows it is an intruder. That is why it was running away and that got me thinking some more.  I am physically, psychologically & in every ot
