What audacity?

The other day, my son came to the room and asked for extra pancake (he had eaten his breakfast but he just wanted some more). Without looking up, I said ask your aunty to give you some, to which he replied I told her but she said NO. I looked up and said to him, tell her MUMMY said she should give you pancake. I had barely finished speaking when he dashed out and starting yelling, “aunty E, mummy said you should give me pancake”… and of course he got the pancake.

Shortly after the incident, our pastor was preaching in church and we were reading the story of Elijah and the window of Zarephath(I kings 17:7 -16). As we read along, I heard myself saying what audacity? I wondered, what gave Elijah the boldness to look at the widow and ask for her last meal? Did he not hear what she just said, it was her last meal? Almost immediately my eyes went back to verse9 where God had told Elijah “I have commanded the widow of Zarephath to feed you”. Interestingly, I remembered the pancake incident at the same time and it all became clear to me. Elijah’s audacity was not of himself, but his boldness was in the one who had told him to go. The same way my son was bold to ask for pancake the second time because this time mummy said so. Thinking further, it must be the same audacity David had when he decided to face Goliath even though all the odds were against him (1Samuel 17)

So dearly beloved, is there any situation that is asking you, what audacity? You need to remember that…

  • Your audacity to expect the impossible is in God to whom nothing is         impossible (Mathew 19:26), in Him that calleth things that be not as though  they were (Roman4:17)
  • Your audacity to embark on that journey and follow that God given dream is in Him who has promised to go before you and make the croaked way straight (Isaiah 45:2)
  • Your audacity to set up a nursery before the positive pregnancy test is in God who said there shall be none barren in the land and you know you are in the land(Exodus23:28).
  • Your audacity to face an uncertain tomorrow with joy and gladness is in Him who knows the end from the beginning (Isaiah46:10) and who has good plans for you (Jeremiah29:11)

Remain blessed
