YOU CAN'T GET ME!!!!!

He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High, shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty,
I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress; My God in whom I trust… Ps91:1-2

It was not until I heard our nanny calling out “come here, it is time to take your bath” did I realize what was going on. A few seconds before my son ran into the bedroom, shut the door so quickly and loudly, ran to his father’s side as thou he was been chased by a 100 angry dogs. Interestingly, once he sat next to his father, he wore a big grin as someone who had won a lottery.  He almost had the look of you can’t catch me or as I now realized “You dare not come here and get me”, I am safe in daddy’s arm. After 2 or 3 calls from outside the door, the nanny must have given up as I did not hear her call again. For some reason, I choose not to take him outside back as I would normally do - which is why he probably ran to daddy in the first place and not to meJ. What I did not know was that the Lord had some lessons for me to learn that night.

Still intrigued, I continued to watch him. I was more interested in what was going on in his young mind. Did he really understand that this was one room she will not enter to get him? Did he consider this place to be his safe haven? He must have the confidence that as long as he was in daddy’s arms, no one will make him have a bath. Surely this must have been how the psalmist felt when he wrote Ps91. I felt as thou I truly understood this psalm for the first time, the importance of dwelling in God’s presence as assurance for safety from the enemy.

The story continues, been an average 2 year old in less than 10 mins he was restless and went outside the room. I watched him go outside and within seconds I heard him protesting as he was taken to the bathroom for a bath. That was my biggest lesson for the night; you need to dwell continuously and not just occasionally.
Just because it appears the enemy is not calling out anymore does not mean he is still not waiting for a moment to strike.
This is where most of us Christians make a mistake. Initially when we feel the threat of the enemy, we pray, we fast, we flee from sin, but after a while, we think the enemy has given up, is no longer nearby, maybe we can venture out a bit, outside of God’s shadow and we then BAMB!!! he strikes.

After his bath, he came back into the room as he does most nights to play a bit before bedtime. By this time, I was sure I had learnt all I could from this experience, but there was more. I watched him walk into the room and close the door behind him, this time a bit more slowly. Then it just hit me, thank God we serve a God of a second chance, even when we stray, he is faithful to forgive if we ask.

Dear friends are you continually dwelling in the secret place of the most high and even if you are not, it is not too late to go back…

Remain blessed.

NB: The promise and assurance contained in this message is reserved for the children of The Most High God. However, the good news is that adoption into this family is open to as many as will believe and accept Jesus as their Lord and savior.
