WHY AM I AFRAID

I read an article in which someone described fear as False Evidence Appearing Real. At first I was not really sure if I could believe this or make sense out of it, but an experience changed my mind.
One fine Sunday morning during the sermon, my pastor said that most people are afraid of things that are afraid of them. I believe my pastor is inspired of God and knows what she is saying, but I kept asking myself, how could this be true. After thinking for some time I totally forgot about it. Couple of days later when I got home from work, I felt something ran across my feet. It turned out to be a rat and I was so terrified that I ran trembling with fear. When I finally calmed down I heard a voice within me say, did you notice the rat was running away from you and not towards you?

You are the rightful occupant of the house and the rat knows it is an intruder. That is why it was running away and that got me thinking some more.  I am physically, psychologically & in every other way stronger than a rat but I was still afraid of it – and have always been. After all, I have dominion over all creatures of the earth (Gen1:26 ). More so, I have never heard that a rat stood and confronted a man. So why did I run….?

The same question is applicable to a lot of God’s children, why are you running? Why are you afraid? Are you afraid of failure? You are the rightful “occupant” of success because God has promised you headship position (Deut 28:13) and he will bless the work of their hands (Deut 15:10).  Are you afraid of men & their threats or boast? You don’t need to worry, your father has got their hearts in His hands (Prov 21:1).  Fear can cripple and paralyze you if you give it a chance.

Did you know that the enemy knows who you are? He’s just trying to see if you know who you are. And what a kick he gets out our needless fear.
When next you are faced with a circumstance that seem daunting and FEAR begins to creep in.
  • Ask yourself? Is this situation beyond what God can handle? If the answer is NO (and I assure you the answer will always be NO) then you really have no reason to be afraid.
  • Just go to your Father and ask him to take control.
  • Exercise your faith and everything will work out for your good.
As a child of God (John 1:12) you have no reason to be afraid of any circumstance that is not in line with God’s plan for you.
Prayer
God Please help me to deal with the spirit of fear. Help me to trust you and in your ability to always help me. Amen.

NB: The promise and assurance contained in this message is reserved for the children of The most High God. However, the good news is that adoption into this family is open to as many as will believe and accept Jesus as their Lord and savior.
